Fallen Esther: The Doll and The Bear
This game was made for the O2A2 VN Jam 2025, a micro Visual Novel jam with strict asset limitations and a 1000 word limit.
Esther was just a little doll, her brown glass eyes glistened. Her spiralling hair spun as she bounced and played.
Most treasured she was by the children who sought after her, unfortunately for Esther, they didn't play gently.
Short sad story about the desire to belong.
Prelude to Ruthless, my WIP book staring The Doll (Esther the Witch) and The Bear (Maksim the Vampire)

Aaah, what a sad story :'( the art is so pretty though! Somehow, you manage to pace it so that the roll ends just as the story does. The way it goes from one tragedy (mistreatment from the children) to another (the gradual shift to the vines) is so neat!
thank you thankyou!! i'm glad the scrolling worked out!! it was my first time doing something like that!!
Game looks really pretty ^^. Very creative use of illustration asset. Poor Esther T-T. Cute but sad story 10/10.
( It would be really sad if bear was the just vines shape like a bear since it never talk back and she got trap for nothing, but that just game theory. )
thankyou crim!! ^^ maybe the bear was the vines all along :0000
Ooooh, it was a short yet impactful story! I really loved the visuals in this one, both the sort of music sheet and Esther, of course, especially how she progressively changed! The story feels like the type of metaphorical ones that could apply to so many things; a simple moment of poetry, perhaps allowing us to reflect on what's left of us after we're being used and broken by others... Hopefully, more than our cracks! Thanks for making this!
thank you! i'm glad you think so!! it is pretty metaphorical so i'm happy you can apply it to different situations!!!
Nice narrative, but sad story… T_T Loved the art.
thank you kindly!! I hope it wasn't too too sad!!
